Dental Consumables Market Overview
“The Dental Consumables Market is estimated to increase at a CAGR of 5.67% from $ 32.56 Billion in 2023 to $ 55.73 Billion by 2030.”
Dental consumables are essential supplies for dentists to perform emergency, restorative, preventive, and diagnostic dental health procedures. They are required for most dental procedures and major surgical procedures. Common materials used include ceramics, compressed gold, glass ionomers, and adhesives. These consumables are used for surgical jawbone repairs, providing support for artificial teeth and fusing with the jawbone.
Luting agents come in various forms and dimensions, including zinc phosphate for crown and bridge cement, polycarboxylate for orthodontic applications, Glass Ionomer cement made from silicate glass powder and polyacrylic acid, and resin-based cement for tooth-colored restorations. Most dental cements are non-allergenic, but GICs, which contain fluoride in silicon glass and polyacrylic acid, can cause allergic reactions. These agents are used for crown and bridge restorations, orthodontic applications, and insulating bases.
Tri-cure GICs use a tertiary amine-peroxide synthesis to polymerize methacrylate, causing reactions. Dental cement comes in five types: zinc phosphate, zinc polycarboxylate, glass ionomers, resin-modified glass ionomers, and resin cement. Zinc phosphate cement, the earliest luting cement, is used as a standard for later measurements. Available in powder, liquid, and pre-portioned capsules, it offers high strength, rigidity, thermal insulation, and intransmissibility.
